Abstract

Abstract:

With hindsight, many of us may wish we had done things differently when we were younger, or wish we could offer advice to our younger, less experienced selves. This study explored whether advice LGBTQ+ women of color aged 50+ give their younger selves reflected regret or fit into the 12 life domains Roese and Summerville (2005) indicated that most regrets fall. Data were collected from 15 one-on-one interviews with eligible participants. Findings indicated three major themes in advice: be less fearful, embrace who they are, and harbor no regrets. This study adds to the paucity of literature surrounding advice elders wish they could give their younger selves.
