Abstract:
In the context of a survey of the contemporary novel in 2019, this essay discusses the history and achievements of a small publishing house, Les Éditions Verdier, which was founded in 1979 in the Corbières region and rapidly made a name for itself by publishing quality texts in a variety of fields, including literature, history, and religion. Eventually it established itself in Paris. In addition to the books it publishes, Les Éditions Verdier sponsors an annual festival/conference, Le Banquet du Livre, which attracts prominent artists and scholars.
