In my article, "Subverting Patriarchy through Celibacy, Renunciation, and Ritual Performance: The Kanyas of Sakori Ashram in India," published in the spring 2019 issue of the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, Dr. Antoinette DeNapoli's entire book was referred to, and as you have rightly mentioned, also cited in footnote 20.¹ In the effort to conceptualize the fieldwork well, the said statements were given. There was no intention to plagiarize or lift any content without duly acknowledging the author.

The said two sentences and phrase on page 30 were an earnest attempt to adapt Dr. DeNapoli's exceptional insights also for this particular small and not at all studied group called the Sakori kanyas. The fieldwork was a very long and difficult journey, and in the absence of any such literature in the Indian context, this was one outstanding work that was referred to. I apologize for this unintentional oversight and mistake. The article is certainly an outcome of my sincere engagement with the field and fieldwork. Please accept my apologies for the inadvertent errors.
