Abstract:
Juxtaposing the characterizations of Jack and Little Red Ridinghood in the 1987 stage production of Into the Woods and the 2014 Disney film adaptationdemonstrates howperceptions of childhood have changed and suggests that the new millennium holds simultaneous differing views about childhood, granting children new agency while highlighting their dependence.
