Abstract

This article seeks to bring Henry James and Fredric Jameson into constellation by thinking of both writers as “late.” The article talks about the way in which lateness has been used as a critical term in discussions of James’s twentieth century writings before going on to use the writings of Theodor Adorno to demonstrate the inseparability of form and content in “late” work. I conclude with some final reflections on the lateness of some of Jameson’s more recent cultural theory.
