In the tradition of the literary and intellectual essay, the author weaves a tale of work, labor, and production from memories and self-disclosure. Welding, office work, and the vocational crisis of the professoriat shape what is, ultimately, an attempt to show what cannot, and perhaps should not, be said. What can be said of what has been shown?
