This issue of Holocaust and Genocide Studies focuses on persecutions committed in Africa during the Herero genocide and during World War II, as well as on the use of Holocaust symbolism in relation to apartheid. The articles shed new light on the politics of memory in post-independence Namibia and post-apartheid South Africa; the Italian occupation of North African territories; and German aspirations regarding French North Africa.
