Implementing CAI in a school involves a process that many individuals using CAI do not perceive. Administrators face many hurdles in achieving innovations such as CAI. This article takes the reader behind the scenes of how one school and one administrator responded to the challenges of implementing CAI. The evolutionary process of computer use at the California School for the Deaf, Fremont and the critical need for ongoing change are emphasized. Problem areas are presented with discussion as to how they were resolved.
