Opportunities for Redemption Deliverance in the nick of time is the highlight of my day, the part I look forward to and reflect on at night during someone else’s watch; I imagine you are the same. The rites of degustation still mark the few of us who were not ruined outright. We are persons set apart: strangers often remark that there’s something about the eyes, they’re not sure what exactly. So we are brought to this place by a twist of character with its own vocabulary of evasion and desire. At this elevation we can hold out almost indefinitely. We monitor the ones down below, tunnel out of view of those up above. You think it’s perfect, but do not be misled. Escape has not been brought to an end but made permanent instead. Flight is frozen.
