Private Weldon A. Adshade Royal Canadian Regiment 3rd Canadian Division Canadian Expeditionary Force Weldon A. Adshade was born on 27 October 1889, in Housefield, Nova Scotia. Weldon moved to Kindersley, Saskatchewan and became a teamster. He enlisted in Saskatoon with the 212th Battalion on 6 July 1916. Adshade landed in France on 22 October 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Regiment in the field on 18 November 1916. Weldon Adshade was killed on 9 April 1916, and is buried at La Chaudiere Military Cemetery in France. He was twenty-seven-years-old. He was a farmer married to Alice Hannah when he was attested as a lieutenant in the 66th Battalion in Edmonton, Alberta on 2 July 1915. He joined the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles on 2 August 1916. On the afternoon on 9 April 1917, Acting Major Bothwell was reported killed. Then forty-oneyears -old, Samuel Bothwell is buried at Nine Elms Military Cemetery. Cameron. At the time of his enlistment, he lived in New Westminster, British Columbia where he was an electrician. He enlisted on 16 March 1915. On 3 August 1916, he joined the 3rd Canadian Machine Gun Company in France. At the battle of Vimy Ridge, Cameron’s company operated in support of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Brigade of the 1st Division. Arthur Cameron was killed in action on 9 April 1917, at the age of twenty-seven. His earnings were paid to his brother, Mr. Henry Cameron of 208 Union St., Vancouver British Columbia. At the time of his enlistment on 6 March 1916, he was 31-years-old and a butcher in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He arrived in England in October 1916 with the 21st Battalion. On 9 April 1917, Charles John Clue went missing in action and was later reported killed in action. Clue earned $33.10 in April 1917. On 30 April 1917 his total earnings of $98.89 was paid to his mother, then of Shepherds Bush Road, London, England. Charles John Clue is buried in Thélus Military Cemetery. Frank W. Hinchcliffe 25th Battalion, Nova Scotia Regiment 2nd Canadian Division Canadian Expeditionary Force Frank W. Hinchcliffe was born in Yorkshire, England on 10 May 1879. He moved to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia where he was a steel worker, and enlisted in Halifax on 25 November 1914. He was then a father of four and a widower. Hinchcliffe’s 25th battalion landed in France in September 1915. In June 1916, he became the battalion’s Regimental-Sergeant-Major, and was awarded the Military Cross the next month. Frank Hinchcliffe was thirty-six-years-old when he was killed on 9 April 1917. He is buried at Thélus Military Cemetery. APPENDIX 2 333 Private Alfred G. Hutchings Royal Canadian Regiment 3rd Canadian Division Canadian Expeditionary Force Alfred G. Hutchings was born in Dara, Ontario, on 12 February 1881. His family later relocated to Campbellford. On 11 August 1915, Hutchings enlisted in Barriefield Ontario with the 59th Battalion from Brockville, Ontario. After arriving in France in June 1916, Hutchings was taken on strength of the Royal Canadian Regiment of the 3rd Division. He was killed on Monday 9 April 1917 and is buried in Thélus Military Cemetery. Alfred Hutchings was twenty-six-years-old.
