First Class in Psalms We begin this study in a context where you have spoken to us in gracious, sovereign ways, You have spoken through prophets and apostles; You have spoken in Scripture that is always endlessly new among us; You have spoken among us by the stirring of your Spirit; You have spoken to us and for us in Jesus Christ, your word fleshed. And now we come to answers. We give you thanks for many mothers and many fathers who have responded to your utterance; We give you thanks for songs of exuberant praise, and for prayers of deep trust, and for poems of urgent imperative, and for shrill fits of rage addressed to you.
