Abstract

England and service to the Church of England as its Adviser on Inter-Faith Relations shape the life of Lamb, with a critical interlude with the Church Mission Society serving the Anglican Church in Pakistan. A debt of gratitude is acknowledged to Kenneth Cragg, the subject of his doctoral studies under David Kerr at Selly Oak. Problems that flow from the use of language on the mission field are recounted along with experience of "embassy and hospitality:" to be an ambassador for Christ, one must accept the hospitality of people and reciprocate that in one's own heart to become fluent in their language, ways and thinking. The chapter concludes with insights into inter-faith relations in Britain.
