Baird Callicott's collection, The River ofthe Mother ofGod and OtherEssays lJy Aldo Leopold (1991), contains a comprehensive bibliography, which is recommended to readers who wish to consult the original sources. This list includes only those publications from which quotations have been excerpted for this volume. Unless otherwise noted, Aldo Leopold was sole author. Leopold's work was often reprinted; in most cases we have cited only the initial publication.
