In January 2022, RILM Music Encyclopedias added three more reference works to its collection of historical and current titles. These are:

  1. •. François Henry Joseph Blaze (Castil-Blaze). Dictionnaire de musique modern, 2d ed. (Paris: Au magasin de musique de la Lyre moderne, 1825) 2 vols; xvi, 324 p. [25]; 389 p.

  2. •. Sokol Shupo. Enciklopedia e muzikës shqiptare (Tiranë: Asmus, 2002) 318 p.

  3. •. Terry Moran. Vietnamese Musical Instruments: A Monographic Lexicon ([Singapore]: author, 2020) 384 p.

The addition of these titles, which augment the coverage and depth of RILM Music Encyclopedias, emphasizes RILM's mission to include the music scholarship of all countries and in all languages. RILM Music Encyclopedias can be accessed via EBSCOhost and, as of recently, on RILM's platform Egret at rme.rilm.org.

Libraries, Archives and Collections with music material in Greece. The Working Group on Access to Music Archives was established following the formation of the Greek Branch of IAML in 2016 with the purpose of creating an updated catalogue of libraries, archives, and institutions that hold music material in their collections. Up to now, the available resources on Greek music collections was Neil Rattlif's, 'Directory of Music Libraries and Collections in Greece: An Overview' (Notes 36, no. 1 [1979]: 50–56), and its follow up Neil Ratliff and Aristeidis Bazmadelis, Directory of Music Libraries and Collections in Greece (Thessaloniki: Greek Society of Music Education, 2017).

The first task of the Group was to form and forward a questionnaire (compatible with RISM Series C) to libraries and archives so that the data would easily migrate to the general list. It was sent to a total of 700 public, academic, and private libraries and revealed a richness of material all over the country.

The data, from the responses were collected and edited and are now available in an online database, that is available through a Google map application via the Branch's Web site, http://iamlgreece.teiep.gr/?page_id=1346./, in the Greek language. Visitors may navigate through places and choose the city and library they are interested in. The information provided about each collection includes address, visiting hours, lending regulations, and contact information, as well as facts about the size and the formats of their holdings, their digital repositories, etc. At this point there are 148 libraries with music collections in the map, most of them in Athens, Corfu, and Thessaloniki; however, there are libraries with music collections all over the mainland and the islands. The Working Group is currently continuing its work by sending a new questionnaire targeting all types of institutions such as museums, archives, and music associations that may hold music material in their collections. The updated edition is expected to appear in the summer of 2022.

The Working Group is coordinated by Stephanie Merakos and Aris Bazmadelis, and its members include Maria Aslanidi, Arsinoi Ioannidou, Vassilis Mitropoulos, Kostas Moschos, Myrto Oikonomidou, Artemis Papadaki, and Valia Vraka. [End Page 53]
