In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editor's Note

Anton O. Kris was a dedicated and highly valued member of American Imago's Editorial Board, but even more importantly, he was a towering figure in psychoanalysis, known for his writings, his institutional contributions and his profound influence as a teacher and supervisor at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. I feel a deep personal sense of gratitude for his friendship, good humor and advice. We first met almost two decades ago as members of a group studying the writing of psychoanalytic history, and he recommended that I become a Scholar Member of BPSI. He then suggested that I follow Louis Rose as the Editor of American Imago. I used to joke that he had an uncanny ability to sense the right assignments. Just before he died on March 11, 2021, he jokingly boasted he had beat me at our numbers of heart treatments, true to himself until the end. I will miss him and his gifts.

Obituaries for Tony have been written by his colleagues Steven H. Cooper (The Psychoanalytic Quarterly, [2021], Volume XC, No. 3, pp. 481-488) and Judy Kantrowitz (International Journal of Psychoanalysis, [October, 2021], Volume 102, Issue 5, pp. 1028-1035). Rather than another obituary, we offer here some celebrations of Tony's life and work. [End Page 695]
