Saltwater mouth and the sound of rabbitstwisting below brambles this earth is humming. moon drenched groundhum the sugar scentedsplit flesh of fallen fruit pulping between heelbone and earth my hair tangled in branches like honey-soaked rabbits race into the thrumming darknessis anyone else capable of hearing this hum I swear is telling me something essentialtelling me a real true story: first you were there and now hereagain you were there and now here again again maybe you're onlya broken trapline rolling below saltwater to the edge of the plums maybe there is no there maybe the rabbits are drinking saltwater now maybe the only place you can settleis here here is tangled expanse is rabbits is moon is a humming is never been but remember
that one time you asked me if I really thought anyone does this If I honestly thought someone would do this for me and I am starting to worry yes maybe yes [End Page 28]
