Abstract:
Like those of the first issue, the four contributions to this second issue of the volume Narrating Witchcraft cover long stretches of time—in this case, roughly nine hundred years of what we can loosely call the Roman world. The first two contributions (Gordon, Alvar) focus mainly on “pagan” evidence from between the late Republic and the third century CE, while the other two (Lotz, Sanzo) concern Christianized late antiquity.
