Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Given that Knemon's fondest wish is to be left alone, it is surprising that he married the widow of his neighbor, thereby bringing more people into his household. The ultimate goal of this marriage is to further his isolation. By marrying this widow, he is able to gain control of her deceased husband's house until her son is old enough to inherit the property, thus ensuring that no one will live next to him for well over a decade.
