Ushashi Dasgupta is a Departmental Lecturer at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, where she is completing her first book. The Lodger World: Charles Dickens and the Properties of Fiction explores Dickens's representations of tenancy.

William F. Long is Emeritus Professor in Biochemistry at the University of Aberdeen. He has published several articles for The Dickensian and Dickens Quarterly and contributed to The Oxford Readers' Companion to Dickens.
