Abstract:
Arthurian scholarship has neglected to examine how depictions of Guinevere as a nun in Britain in the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries served to undercut negative archetypes associated with her. Ultimately, the prevalence of depictions of Guinevere as a nun, and the import of this convention, has not received the attention that it rightly deserves.
