From the Editor

FROM THE EDITOR This issue marks the first since The Latin Americanist moved its editorial offices from the University of Central Florida to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I would like to reiterate the thanks that my predecessor, Bruce Wilson, noted in his last issue ("From the Editor," Vol. 50, n. 1, Fall 2006) to John Bersia at the Office of Global Perspectives and the Global C01mections Foundation at UCF. But in particular I want to thank Bruce himself. He has done an impressive job in strengthening TLA and bringing it as wide an audience as possible. He also worked very closely with me, offering guidance to make the transition as smooth as possible. With regard to settling in at UNC Charlotte, I would like to add my own debt to Nancy Gutierrez, the Dean of Arts and Sciences here at UNC Charlotte, for her generous support of the journal. The Director of Latin American Studies, Jurgen Buchenau, and SECOLAS Treasurer Angela Herren have also provided significant support, as has my student intern, Alvaro Segovia. I am also pleased to announce that the Southeastern Council of Latin American Studies approved a new parh1ership between The Latin Americanist and Wiley-Blackwell, which will begin in 2008. I am very excited about the partnership, and look forward to working with Elizabeth Kidder and Margaret Zusky, who came to the SECOLAS conference in San Jose, Costa Rica, to discuss it with the membership.
