Journal of Canadian Studies • Revue d'etudes canadiennes Contributors Matthew Evenden is a PhD candidate in history at York University. His dissertation concerns conflicts over hydro-electric developement and the salmon fisheries on the Fraser river. He has written another article on Innis and the Arctic Survey in the Canadian Historical Review (1998). Rachel Grover (nee Elmhirst) was born at Birdsall, Peterborough County, and attended St Michael's Church, Westwood for many years. Educated at Norwood High School and at Trinity College, University of Toronto, she is a former manuscript librarian at the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto. Her husband, the late john Grover, was Michael Farrar's great grandson. Renee Hulan teaches Canadian Literature at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Roger Hyman is an Associate Professor in the English Department at McMaster University. Ian Maclaren teaches in the Canadian Studies programme and the English Department at the University of Alberta. Robin Neill is Professor Emeritus at Carleton University and the University of Prince Edward Island. Pam Roper is a doctoral candidate at the University of Ottawa. Her research intersts include the state, technology as well as gender issues. Hugh Shewell is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Work, York University.
