Abstract

This article links the Mediterranean matrix, as theorized by the editors of this special issue, to recent cultural and political developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina. First, it addresses a trend in security studies that rewrites the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of a Mediterranean matrix of Islamist terror. Next, it critiques this dominant conception of Muslims as inherently un-European by focusing on an alternate imaginary of the Mediterranean emerging out of the Bosnian Spring (2014).
