Abstract

Canadian Theatre Review interviews three participants from the CMTWC (Canadian Musical Theatre Writers Collective) 2016–17 Writers Workshop. Deanna Choi, Richard Lam, and Colin Simmons discuss their experiences working with the various instructors from the Workshop (including Leslie Arden, Jim Betts, and David Warrack). They also share their thoughts about writing musicals, what (if anything) defines a Canadian musical, and the importance of promoting diversity in musical theatre performance and creation.
