Abstract

Charles B. Keeney III, founding member of the West Virginia Mine Wars Museum, explains the historic Battle of Blair Mountain and details attempts to preserve the battleground. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places—and then delisted—the battleground still contains considerable architectural resources but is difficult to access due to coal mining companies’ control of the surrounding area.
