Abstract
Ronald D. Anzalone, director of the Office of Preservation Initiatives at the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), describes the origins of the ACHP and Section 106. He goes on to discuss the early implementation of Section 106 and its evolution over time, including recurring issues as well as efforts to improve federal programs and promote federal preservation policy. Anzalone closes by looking forward to a broad and inclusive preservation agenda for the next 50 years.
