In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editors’ Preface
  • Ariana Trail and Angeliki Tzanetou

As we begin our term as Co-Editors of Illinois Classical Studies, we are pleased to present to our readers the second of the two issues, published by Illinois Classical Studies in 2016. This is a special issue, guest edited by Stephen M. Bay of Brigham Young University, and Stephen M. Trzaskoma of the University of New Hampshire, both alumni of the Department of the Classics at Illinois. A few years ago, they had the excellent idea of collecting and publishing a volume of Ben Edwin Perry’s kleine Schriften here at the late Professor Perry’s home department. We always take special pride when we collaborate with scholars and colleagues who have strong ties with the Illinois department and we are especially pleased to pay tribute to Ben Edwin Perry, one of the most important American classicists of his generation, fifty years after the publication of his landmark study on the ancient romances.

We are especially pleased to welcome to our Editorial Board Aristoula Georgiadou, Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Patras, Maryline G. Parca, Associate Professor Emerita of Classics, University of Illinois, and Stephen M. Trzaskoma, Professor of Classics at the University of New Hampshire.

In addition to the guest editors, we would like to thank Antony Augoustakis, Head of Classics, and former Editor of Illinois Classical Studies for his expert advice on editorial policies and for supporting the efforts of the editorial team. We would also like to thank Associate Dean Martin Camargo for his continued support. We also want to thank Clydette Wantland, Kristen Dean-Grossmann, and the team at the University of Illinois Press for all their help and assistance. Special thanks are also due to our editorial assistants for ICS 41.2, Sebastian Anderson and Aine McVey as well as to Clayton Schroer for their assistance with bibliography and for their careful proofreading.
