This study explores the experience of technical college faculty and staff involved in a statewide initiative to develop innovative models for providing equal opportunities to students with disabilities. Findings suggest that such human dimensions as recognizing the ambivalence and ambiguity inherent in change, establishing collaborative relationships, and gaining a sense of control are important aspects of purposive change. Meaningful change occurred when those involved saw themselves as authors of change rather than its targets.
