@EWAY WHAT IS CREAT? CREAT is the first computer graphics studio in Russia. CREAT is also the name of a group of ambitious young people who dared to make a breakthrough to civilization in spite of the information gap and their lack of financial resources and technical experience. It started in 1989, a year when the young generation was allowed, for the first time, to apply their energy not only to studying the classics of Marxism and Leninism but also to trying their skills in business and enterprise. Of course permission would not be granted without numerous reservations and limitations, but that was how it all began. Several Physics and Mathematics Department graduates of Leningrad State University opened a small computer games hall, a rather popular kind of entertainment at the time. It was the first source of profit for the future studio. They managed to buy an Amiga 500 computer and some inexpensive graphics software. Several years passed. Now the computer graphics studio forms a part of CREATJoint Stock Company, one of the biggest companies in Russia. It specializes in high technology, and has associated firms in Moscow and Hamburg, Germany . The studio now operates several graphic workstations based on Amiga 3000 and IBM PC-AT 486 computers , and has set up a Betacam SP videoset and a music workstation. Title spots and commercials made for TV at the studio meet European standards. CREAT has taken part in a number of exhibitions and conferences on computer graphics, including international events, and is featured in various guides on electronic arts.
