Abstract

The author describes two interlocking aspects of his work: (1) the MIDI-keyboard—controlled Sparkling Light Console (SLC), which produces abundantly varied colored patterns of pulsed lights in linear and textural configurations on a large panel and (2) two multimedia works that combine the SLC with computer music. Also discussed are some esthetic parameters of this visual art form and their resemblance to those of music. Technical aspects of the SLC’s construction and performance are detailed.
