Pons Hugh de Ampurias.” It dealt with the manipulative use of an accusation of sexual abuse for political purposes in early 14th century Spain. Recently it has become clear that this article is almost identical to an article written over a decade and a half ago by the distinguished medieval legal historian Professor James Brundage, a professor of history and law at the University of Kansas. The original article by Professor Brundage first appeared in In iure veritas: Studies in Canon Law in Memory of Schaefer Williams, ed. Steven B. Bowman and Blanche E. Cody (Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati College of Law, 1991) 3–10. It was subsequently reprinted in a collected series of essays by Professor Brundage entitled Sex, Law and Marriage in the Middle Ages (Aldershot: Variorum, 1993) no. XVII. The editorial board apologizes especially to Professor Brundage but also to our readers for this unfortunate development. We will do everything in our power to preclude this happening again.
