Abstract

I propose to look, first, at key human rights indicators on the eve of the uprising. Second, I will review the main human rights developments, positive and negative, under the military commanders who took over from Mubarak and developments so far among the main political actors. Lastly, I will discuss the main concerns in areas such as writing a new constitution, security sector reform, and preserving and expanding space for non-violent political competition moving ahead.
