Book Blockade. Photograph by Alessandro Grassi. November 30, 2010: On the day that the Gelmini reform is first brought to a vote, three major universities in Rome stage a citywide demonstration that begins on the campus of La Sapienza and moves into the center of the city. When protestors reach the Italian parliament, they confront the police by forming a “book blockade.” Later additions to the tactical library include Deleuze’s What Can a Body Do?, Spinoza’s Ethics, Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and Donna Haraway’s Cyborg Manifesto.
