CONTRIBUTORS TO THIS ISSUE Willard Carl Klunder is an assistant professor of history at The Wichita State University, specializing in the antebellum and Civil War periods. He is currently revising a political biography of Lewis Cass for publication. Mark J. Stegmaier is associate professor of history at Cameron University, Lawton, Oklahoma, specializing in antebellum U.S. history. In preparation for writing a new book-length study, he is presently researching various aspects of the 1850 crisis. Vernon L. Volpe has taught at the University of NebraskaLincoln and now teaches American history at Texas A & M University. He is currently completing a study of the Liberty party in the Old Northwest. Alwyn Barr is professor of history at Texas Tech University and is the author of several articles on the Civil War and Reconstruction.
