Abstract
The paper investigates a formal feature recurrent in most narrative texts by Tozzi, in which often an excess of tension is abruptly brought to a negative or positive conclusion. The texts analysed include "Bestie", the novels "Ricordi di un giovane impiegato", "Con gli occhi chiusi", "Gli egoisti", "Il podere", "Tre croci", and a few representative stories: "La mia amicizia", "Marito e moglie", "Il crocifisso", "La notte di Natale".
