Gregory R. Beabout is Associate Professor of Philosophy at St. Louis University and Adjunct Scholar at the Center for Economic Personalism. His publications include Freedom and Its Misuses, A Celebration of the Thought of John Paul II, and Beyond Self-Interest.

Robert Coles, M.D. is a Pulitzer prize-winning physician who has worked with children across the United States and abroad. He is the author of Children of Crisis, biographies on William CarlosWilliams and Walker Percy, and numerous other books. Dr. Coles is an editor of DoubleTake magazine.

Gregory J. Coulter has taught in the Philosophy Department at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota since 1985. His primary research interests are the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas and the philosophy of religion. He has published on those and other topics in the Proceedings of the ACPA.

Shane D. Drefcinski is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has published articles on Aristotle's ethical theory in Ancient Philosophy and Apeiron.

Daniel R. Fairchild is Professor of Economics at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has taught at St. Thomas since 1976. His primary research interests are international economics and the relationships among economics, religion, and social issues.

Laura L. Garcia is a member of the Philosophy Department at Boston College. Her essay on reproductive ethics in the work of John [End Page 188] Paul II is forthcoming in John Paul II's Contribution to Catholic Bioethics, edited by Christopher Tollefsen.

Raymond B. Marcin has taught at the Catholic University of America School of Law for the past thirty years. He has published articles on legal and religious topics in many journals, including the American Journal of Jurisprudence, the Connecticut Law Review, the Christian Legal Society Quarterly, the National Lawyers Association Review, and Eutopia: A Lay Journal of Catholic Thought.

Eric Reitan is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. He publishes regularly in the areas of social and political philosophy, environmental ethics, and the philosophy of religion. He has an enduring interest in issues of violence and nonviolence. He is currently co-authoring a book on the doctrine of hell.

Kevin E. Schmiesing is Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Personalism of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the author of American Catholic Intellectuals and the Dilemma of Dual Identities, 1895-1955.

Peter Shea has taught philosophy for various Minnesota colleges and universities. He is currently teaching at Metropolitan State University and Ridgewater College. He produces and directs The Bat of Minerva, a philosophy show on the Metro Cable Network, teaches workshops in philosophy for children at local elementary schools, and assists in planning Minnesota Folkschool events.

Michael S. Sherwin, O.P. is Associate Professor of Moral Theology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland and Adjunct Professor of Philosophy and Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California.

James S. Spiegel is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Taylor University. He has published articles on ethics, aesthetics, and the philosophy [End Page 189] of religion. He is the author of Hypocrisy: Moral Fraud and OtherVices as well as a forthcoming book on the virtues.

Thomas G. Weinandy is an American Capuchin priest and Warden of Greyfriars in Oxford, England. He lectures and tutors in History and Doctrine at the University of Oxford. He has published both academic and popular books in theology; his latest are The Father's Spirit of Sonship: Reconceiving the Trinity and Does God Suffer?
