Arion T. Mayes, a native Oklahoman, is currently an assistant professor of biological anthropology at San Diego State University as well as a research associate with the New York African Burial Ground and the San Diego Museum of Man.
David R. M. Beck is professor and chair of Native American studies at the University of Montana. He is author of a two-volume history, Siege and Survival: History of the Menominee Indians, 1634–1856 and The Struggle for Self Determination: History of the Menominee Indians Since 1854. Both won the Wisconsin Historical Society book award. His most recent book is Seeking Recognition: The Termination and Restoration of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, 1855–1984.
Boyd Cothran is a PhD candidate in history at the University of Minnesota. He is currently working on his dissertation, “Marketplaces of Remembering: Episodes from the Commodification of California’s Last Indian War.”
