78 The Editor's Fence 1. ELT Seminar on H. G. Wells (MLA. San Francisco. Dec 1975)ι The nineteenth meeting of the ELT Seminar is being planned for the San Francisco MLA meeting. Pending MLA approval, William J. Scheick (University of Texas, Austin) will be discussion leader. He will chair a panel of Wells scholars whose papers will be published in ELT. XVIIIi^ (1975) to be mailed to subscribers prior to the meeting. Professor Scheick is now receiving papers to be considered for the seminar issue of ELT and as the basis for discussion at the meeting. All papers must be submitted to Professor Scheick directly, preferably by July 1. 2. Annotated Secondary Bibliography Seminan G. B. Shaw (MLA. San Francisco. Dec 1975Ti The third meeting of the ASB seminar will be on G. B. Shaw on whom a three-volume annotated secondary bibliography is now in progress. Individual volume editors are John Pfeiffer (Central Michigan university), Elsie B. Adams (San Diego State College), and Donald C. Haberman (Arizona State University ). Editors of published volumes in the ASB Series, those contracted for future volumes, and contributors of more modest bibliographies to ELT are invited to participate. The compilereditors of the Shaw volumes will report on the progress of their work and discuss various kinds of problems that have arisen. H. E. Gerber, the general editor of the ASB Series, will be Discussion Leader and we hope to have a representative of the N. I. U. Press at the meeting. 3. ELT Seminar on the Novel and Society (MLA. New York. 1976)ι The twentieth meeting of the ELT Seminar is being planned for the New York MLA meeting. Pending MLA approval, H. Ray Stevens (Western Maryland College) will be Discussion Leader. Papers may be on individual authors or themes which are evidenced in several novels by different authors. Papers accepted for discussion at the seminar will be published in ELT, XIXi^ (1976) to be mailed to subscribers prior to the meeting. Professor Stevens is now receiving papers to be considered for discussion. All papers to receive consideration must be submitted before July 1, 1976. 4. ELT Indeχ ι A fifteen-year cumulative index to ELT is being compiled by Mary Ellen and Bernard Quint, with an introduction on the history of ELT by H. E. Gerber. This project, supported by a special assistance grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and Humanities , is tentatively scheduled for publication in June or July. It will be sold separately at a price to be announced later. Income from sales will be applied to the cost of preparation, materials , mailing, and printing costs in excess of our assistance grant.
