Abstract

Over the years, conventions of the National Women's Studies Association provided a unique opportunity for feminist scholars to test ideas about the nature of our new study. These reminiscences chart one scholar's experience at sessions of the national conference, which led to collaborative publications that helped to define the field. As new PhD programs are established, questions abound about the interdisciplinary contours of Women's Studies and its relationship to traditional disciplines. The convention still provides a unique opportunity to address these questions, even as we embrace a Big Tent philosophy, bringing women of many different interests and experiences to our annual event.
