Morris describes how her Native American teachers and stories written in the Native American tradition have changed the way she teaches. She contrasts author Leslie Marmon Silko's belief that stories have the power to heal with the Western tradition in which she herself was trained. Elaborating on specific aspects of the Native American Wisdom Tradition, she describes the significance of orality, considers the connections between storytelling and ceremony, and makes connections between narrative, learning, healing, and well-being.
