Alan L. Berger holds the Raddock Eminent Scholar Chair of Holocaust Studies at Florida Atlantic University. Among his books are Encyclopedia of Holocaust Literature (coeditor), which received both a Booklist Best Reference Book of 2002 award and selection as an Outstanding Reference Source 2003—Reference and User Services Association of the American Library Association.
Zvi Jonathan Kaplan, an assistant professor of history at Touro College, recently received his Ph.D. in modern Jewish history from Columbia University. He is currently revising his dissertation, “French Jewry and the Problem of Church and State: 1848–1905,” for publication.
Michael A. Meyer is the Adolph S. Ochs Professor of Jewish History on the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion and the international president of the Leo Baeck Institute. Recent books he has written or edited include German Jewish History in Modern Times (4 vols., 1996–1998), Judaism within Modernity (2001), The Reform Judaism Reader (2001), and Leo Baeck Werke: Briefe, Reden, Aufsätze, vol. 6 (2003).
Rochelle L. Millen is a professor of religion at Wittenberg University. The recipient of many grants and awards, Millen has authored numerous articles and book chapters. She is editor of New Perspectives on the Holocaust: A Guide for Teachers and Scholars (1996) and author of Women, Birth, and Death in Jewish Law and Practice (2004), part of the Brandeis University Series on Jewish Women. With Myrna Goldenberg, Millen has also coedited the forthcoming volume in the Goldner Series of the University of Washington Press tentatively titled Tensions of Teaching the Holocaust. She also serves as a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute.
Zion Zohar is the associate director of the Institute for Judaic and Near Eastern Studies at Florida International University, where he is in charge of the newly established President Navon Program for the Study of Sephardic and Oriental Jewry. His first edited book on the concept of peace among the three Abrahamic faiths is forthcoming from Mercer University Press. He is currently working on completing the editing of his second book on Sephardic Jewry. [End Page 186]
