Artist Statement

Día de los Poemas: Written on and for the Day of the Dead, this image is the way I remembered a loved one who passed. As memories flooded and tears were shed, words poured onto the pages and formed the image of the one who I will always remember. His_Panic Line Up: After speaking with numerous Latinos across campus a salient issue came up; silence. This image depicts the fears of branding a cultural identity. Untitled Historia: This piece is a single poem comprised of 10 interviews with different Mexican-Americans across the United States. The painting shows a single narrative in different languages that have influenced Mexican and Mexican Americans across time and place. [End Page 201]
