Esther Kim Lee’s The Theatre of David Henry Hwang is an able critical study of this important and well-known Asian-American playwright’s life and works. It pays close attention to the autobiographical elements in Hwang’s plays, as well as his theatrical forms and production styles, and engages with his signature theme of identity politics.
