Abstract

This article examines an event that took place at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Marin County, California, in 2010. I was invited to the event to debate the author and cattle rancher Nicolette Hahn Niman on the ethics of eating meat. Rather than detail the debate itself, this article explores the context of the event and the social, political, and historical associations that it brought up for me as a vegan disability activist and scholar.
