NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS Edward Shultz is a professor of history at West Oahu College, University of Hawaii. In addition to his published work on Koryö dynasty political history, he has also written and produced The History and Culture of Korea, a study guide and audiovideo cassette program. John Duncan is an assistant professor of history at Boise State University. Gari Ledyard is a professor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Culture, Columbia University. Martina Deuchler is a senior lecturer in history at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. She is an authority on late nineteenth-century Korean history and author of Confucian Gentlemen and Barbarian Envoys, University of Washington Press, 1977. Lee Kwang-gyu is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at Seoul National University. Roger Janelli is an associate professor in the Department of Folklore at the University of Indiana, Bloomington. Dawnhee Yim is an associate professor in the Department of History, Tongguk University. They have collaborated on a number of publications, including Ancestor Worship and Korean Society, Stanford University Press, 1982. David McCann is editor and author of nine books of translations and studies of Korean literature. His most recent works include Selected Poems of So Chöngju, Columbia University Press, 1989, and Form and Freedom in Korean Poetry, E. J. Brill, 1988.
