This article presents a five-phase instructional strategy that has been successfully applied in the design of instruction for hearing-impaired youth. The five phases (orientation, presentation, practice, review, and evaluation) transcend content, organization of content, and mode of delivery. Experience has shown that systematic application of these five phases can be very effective in enhancing instruction.
