In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

Schools and Programs in the U. S. Introduction Information on schools and classes for deaf children and youth in the United States is provided in three sections. For this year, the sections are: 1. Directory Listing for 1992-93 (page 103)—provided below, includes program name, address, telephone number, and administrator . 2. Program and Services Chart for 1992-93 (page 138)—information on each of the programs in the directory, including program type (residential/day, tuition/no tuition), number of students enrolled, services offered (e.g., parent-infant program, continuing education), and communication methodology used in the classroom. These first two sections present data collected in a special Annals Reference Issue survey, conducted in October and November 1992, by the Center for Assessment and Demographic Studies (CADS) at Gallaudet University for the 1992-93 school year. 3a. Annual Survey of Hearing-Impaired Children and Youth (page 163)—summary of the data collected by CADS as part of its Annual Survey for the 1991-92 school year, with selected analyses specifically for this Reference Issue. 3b. Stanford Achievement Test—8th Edition (page 172)—a brief description of the CADS project to develop norms for hearing-impaired students on the 8th Edition Stanford Achievement Test. Also provided are several graphic comparisons of subgroups within the norming sample on the Reading Comprehension subtest of the Stanford. This latter section is included as a complement to the literacy focus, which is the "Topic of Interest" for this 1993 Annals Reference Issue. Schools and Programs in the U.S. Directory Listing This listing provides directory information on U.S. schools and programs for preschool, elementary, and secondary children who are deaf or otherwise hearing impaired. Under each state is an alphabetical listing by city of (1) schools (residential and day), (2) local programs, and (3) other types of facilities. The programs listed here include only those that responded to the 1992-93 Annals Reference Issue survey.
