In Jacques Boogaart's review 'Machaut and Reims' (EM 32 (2004), 605-8), the Latin name 'Amor' was erroneously replaced with the French 'Amour' (p. 607b, l.20). Whereas Robertson and Donagher suggest that the gender of Amour can fluctuate between feminine and masculine, Dr Boogaart notes that in Machaut, the personification of Love is always feminine; Machaut even violates Latin grammar to preserve her feminine gender.
