Antwi A. Akom is part of a new generation of college professors, innovators, and entrepreneurs building technology to inspire, equip, and mobilize people to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges. In 2012 he co-founded the Institute for Sustainable Economic, Educational, and Environmental Design (I-SEEED), an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to building sustainable cities and schools. In 2013 Dr. Akom co-founded Streetwyze (A Benefit Corporation)—a best-in-class mobile, mapping, and SMS platform for residents to find goods and services, take action on important issues, and visualize neighborhood health and well-being. Dr. Akom has held academic appointments at UC Berkeley, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and San Francisco State University. He holds a Ph. D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Environmental Sociology, an MA in Education from Stanford University, and a BA in Political Science/Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
