900 m² - which comprises the northeastern third of the ancient settlement area at Toftanes -
the ruins of four stone-built buildings were recorded and excavated [Fig. 21]. The four
structures were built on sloping terrain with clayish subsoil partly covered by a peaty topsoil.
The site was bordered to the north by the stream Salvará, and to the east by the fjord. The site
